Canoeing on the Current River with Steve and Barbara

We couldn't have picked a better day for a canoe trip. We only saw 6 people during our trip down the river, the temperature was perfect, and there was lots of wildlife to observe. The ladies didn't want to do an overnight, so this was a one day leisurely float with lots of rest stops for food and drink or just to take in the magnificent scenery. The Current River is one of Missouri's three "Scenic Rivers", and well worth the two hour drive from the city.

It's hard to get pictures while going down the river. You have to wait for some smoother water before you want to risk having your camera out and vulnerable.

One of the wider and smoother stretches on the river. All you can hear is the water gurgling, the birds and the occasional canoe paddle splashing.
