July 15-16, 2010 - We embark on yet another trip to the beautiful Current River in South Central Missouri. This time we decided to spend the night at Montauk State Park and set out on the river the next day. We stayed in a cabin in the park, toured the old mill, the trout hatchery and played cards in our rather primitive surroundings. We had no TV and no phone. The cell phones won't work here! Perfect for a getaway! We set out fairly early and stayed on the river for approximately 6 hours. It wasn't all paddling however. There were plenty of rest stops and swimming opportunities. The temperatures climbed into the lower 90s but the river was cold and refreshing. We love the beauty and serenity of this river and planned another trip in September. Come join us!
