We couldn't have asked for a nicer day for a canoe trip. The daytime temperatures stayed in the 80s, with just a light breeze and lots of sunshine.
It is always a pleasure to get away from the city, the traffic, the cell phones, TV and all the other distractions. Here on the Current River, you are surrounded by the beauty of one of Missouri's protected streams, lots of birds, water fowl and furry critters. The clear water shows off the many trout, snails, and crabs scurrying about.
We have floated this river for many, many years and never fail to enjoy the experience. We did have something happen this time that has never happened in the 20+ years we have floated this river. We turned the canoe over! Cherie dropped her paddle and we both reached for it at the same time. This resulted in the canoe doing a 180, spilling it's cargo (including us) into the river. This happened at a fairly deep and tranquil spot and the important things were sealed and protected. No harm done! The only thing that suffered was our pride. We'll be back!
