Our next stop... Beautiful Bavaria

We drove our rental car from our stop in the Black Forest to our next destination, a remote village in Bavaria, located approximately 40 kilometers south of Munich. This is the same place Arno and Cherie lived in for 3 years back in the late 60's and visited again in 1994. Our landlady had two small efficiency apartments waiting for us. The mountain air was perfumed with the scent of pine and cow manure, cowbells were chiming in the adjacent meadow and our balcony afforded us a splendid view of the Alps. Ahhh... life is good.
We could have spent our time just enjoying the tranquility of our little hideaway, but we also did some of the mandantory tourist stuff. Those included a trip to Neuschwanstein Castle, Schloss Nymphenburg, the City of Munich, and the English Gardens. We consumed much beer, wurst and pretzels and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Our digs in Bavaria.	This was one of the rooms. There was also a little efficiency kitchen area and bath.	Another view. Not a bad gig for 26 Euros per night. The landlady will even provide with milk direct from an Alpine cow.	These are the milk producers. The barn and living quarters are all under the same roof.	This brook runs right by the house. It is called "Der Steinbach" (stone brook) and it makes a wonderful sound as it flows down toward the Isar River.
We spent our first evening there playing cards and drinking some good German wine.	The next morning we set out for our visit to one of King Ludwigs castles. He only lived in it for 172 days before he was drowned in the Starnberger See. This shot was taken from the road leading to the village at the base of the mountain.	A kind stranger took this picture of the four of us together.	This is Hohenschwangau where Ludwig spent most of his childhood.	Peace to you Bavaria!
If you look closely, you will see Steve and Barbara up on the landing. We climbed many, many stairs touring this castle.	The next morning we left our rental car parked at the Bahnhof in Holzkirchen and took the train into Munich. Munich is a very busy city and it is hard to find parking. The ideal way to tour the city is to take public transportation. The cost of a day pass is 4.50 Euro.	Our first stop is the Marienplatz where we watch the Glockenspiel on the Rathaus at noon. We took a street car to the outskirts of Munich to visit Schloss Nymphenburg.	The Bavarian royalty looking down on us peasants.	Our last breakfast in Bavaria. This time on a train that would connect us to a Czech train (from hell) which would eventually carry us to Prague. Again with the beer.
