We entered the heart of the Black Forest through a long tunnel and winding narrow roads. The name of the Gasthof we were looking for was the Gasthof zum Roessle, and after some searching we finally managed to find the place only to find out that is was closed for the day. The hotel didn't Look at all like it did on their internet web page. It looked run down and dirty. There was no one around to let us into our room but we finally spotted a couple walking by and asked about finding someone to let us in. The couple were extremely friendly and helpful and after a bit we discovered that we were in the wrong place. The hotel we were looking for had the same name but was located another 4 kilometers up the road, and it turned out to be a beauty. A clear mountain stream runs past our guesthouse, the rooms are spotless and the food in the dining room is delicious. We were very pleased. The next day we set out for a tour of the Dorotheanhuette (Famous for glass blowing). We met Arno's cousin Inga who works at the University nearby and toured the place together. When we returned to our hotel for a late lunch we had a surprise waiting for us. Inga had arranged for Arno's cousins Joachim and Roswita to surprise us. They were on their way to their home in Bingen, Germany from a trip to Switzerland. We had a nice lunch together and then went for a tour of the Vogst Bauernhof, an authentic reconstruction of a Black Forest Farm 400 years ago. This is the perfect spot for a relaxing and very reasonable getaway. There are a lot of hiking trails that let you explore the Black Forest on foot. We are on our way to Bavaria, but everyone hated to leave this beautiful spot.
